Club Competitions

Each year the Club holds both Print and Digital Slide Competitions. The full rules for these can be found in the club Handbook. (Here)

Prints are normally handed in the week before the competition (or as noted in the Programme). Please mark on the back top left corner your name, whether you are in Advanced, Intermediate or Beginners, and the title of the image. If you are unsure of your grouping please discuss with a Committee member who will explain.

Similarly media containing Digital Slides are normally handed in the week before the competition (or as noted in the Programme). These can be on USB Stick, CD, DVD or media card. From December 2009 we will have a post box at the club where these can be submitted. Please make a note on the log beside the postbox that you have entered so help me! Entries are accepted by email but please be aware this is not always reliable. From December 2009 entries being emailed should only be sent to wcdc@otoole2001.freeserve.co.uk. It will help me enormously if you can use the following naming onvension when submitting files:

Group filename Yourname.jpg

For example: Advanced Yamaha Motorbike Paul O'Toole.jpg

If the file names are in this order I can simply order in alphabetical order to prepare the presentation instead of having to rename 70 - 100 files. Please try to work out how to get the file size correct - instructions are in the handbook. It doesn't take me too long to change the filesize but this can add up. What is imperative is that files are only submitted JPEGS - this is the only format the software recognises - please no TIFFS, GIFFS, BITMAPS, or RAW files. Resizing and changing file formats does take me too long. If your files are tiffs - just save as -> Jpeg before you send them.

I bet a few of you are thinking it was all so much easier in Chris Peet's day!
