In April 2007 The Worthing
Photographic society membership chose to change its name to The Worthing
Camera and Digital Club. This change reflects the modern nature of the club
and its membership. The club was originally called the Worthing and District
Camera Club and was formed on 26th April 1904, and from the start of the
1905-1906 season had its own darkroom. Some of the members used outside
toilets and had dishes balanced precariously on any available item of
'furniture'!

The name of
the society and the meeting place have both changed over the years, as have
the types of photography. Everything was monochrome and was produced from
various printing processes, including Bromoils to 2¼" square slides. Later
these were followed by 35mm colour slides and colour prints, and nowadays
many of these are produced digitally.
